Trust & Safety
Keeping our community safe
People get scammed. Here is exactly what we do about it, and what you should do too.
What we check
- Every worker's identity. We require a National Identity Card or driving licence, and a live selfie taken in the app — not a photo from the gallery.
- The face must match the document. An automated check compares the two. Anything uncertain is reviewed by a person.
- One NIC, one account. The same identity document cannot be approved twice.
- Age. Date of birth comes from the NIC number itself, so it cannot be faked by typing a different one.
What the verified badge means
A green verified badge means we have seen a genuine-looking identity document and confirmed the person's face matches it. It does not guarantee their character or the quality of their work — that is what ratings and reviews are for.
How your money is protected
- When a hirer pays online, Workash holds the money. The worker is told it is secured before they turn up.
- It is released only after the work is confirmed done.
- Reporting a problem freezes the money until a person reviews it.
- Cash payments are made directly between the two of you — we never hold them, and we say so clearly in the app.
Staying safe — for workers
- Never pay anyone to get work. Workash will never ask you for a fee to be hired, and neither should a hirer.
- Keep conversations in the app. If something goes wrong, the record is what protects you.
- Check the part-time job details before you travel — hours, pay and location are all shown.
- If a workplace feels unsafe, leave. Report it in the app.
- Do not hand over your NIC to a hirer. We have already verified you — they do not need it.
Staying safe — for hirers
- Check the verified badge and reliability score before selecting someone.
- Use the app's check-in code so attendance is recorded.
- Pay the amount you advertised. Underpaying is the fastest way to lose access.
- Keep instructions in the app chat, so both sides have the same record.
If something goes wrong
- Use "Report an issue" in the app. It freezes any money held.
- Our team reviews attendance records, messages and payment history.
- For anything involving immediate danger, contact the police first — then tell us.
What gets an account removed
- Using someone else's identity document.
- Sending a different person to a part-time job.
- Asking a worker to pay to be hired.
- Repeatedly failing to pay agreed amounts.
- Harassment, threats or unsafe conduct.
