This policy explains what Workash collects, why, and what you can do about it. It applies to the mobile app and the website.

What we collect

Your name, phone number and email when you register.
Your National Identity Card (or driving licence) number and photographs of the document, if you choose to verify your identity.
A photograph of your face (a "selfie"), used only to check that it matches the photo on your ID.
Your city and approximate location, so we can show you work nearby.
Your precise location at the moment you check in or out of a part-time job, to confirm attendance at the workplace.
Messages you send through the app, and photographs or files you attach.
Payment records, wallet balance and payout bank details.
Ratings, reviews and attendance history.

Why we collect it

Identity verification. Hirers let workers into their premises. Verifying who someone is protects both sides, and is the core purpose of this platform.
Age checking. Your date of birth is derived from your NIC number to confirm you are old enough to work under Sri Lankan law.
Matching. Location helps show work you can realistically reach.
Attendance. Check-in location confirms a part-time job was worked, which determines payment.
Payments. Bank details are used only to send money you have earned.

Your face and ID documents

Your selfie is compared against the photograph on your ID using an automated face-matching service. We keep the result of that comparison and the images themselves in private storage that is not publicly accessible.

Your ID images are visible only to our verification team. They are never shown to hirers or other workers. Hirers see only that you are verified — never your NIC number or documents.

What others can see

Your name, photograph, city, ratings, reviews and work history.
Whether your identity is verified.
Your reliability score, if you take part-time work.
Never: your NIC number, ID images, phone number, email, bank details or exact home address.

Who we share it with

Our payment provider, to process payments you make or receive.
Our identity verification provider, to check your selfie against your ID.
Authorities, where we are legally required to do so.
We do not sell your personal data to anyone.

How long we keep it

We keep your account data while your account is open. If you delete your account we remove your personal details, but we keep records of completed jobs and payments where we are required to for tax, accounting or dispute purposes.

Workers aged 16 and 17

If you are under 18, we collect a parent or guardian's consent and their NIC details before you can work. These accounts are reviewed individually by our team, and are restricted to work permitted for young persons under Sri Lankan law.

Your choices

You can view and edit your profile at any time.
You can turn off push notifications in Settings.
You can request deletion of your account in Settings.
You can ask us what data we hold about you.
